Health & Dental and Student Legal Support Updates

July 26, 2021

Your Students’ Association of NorQuest College (SANQC) believes in providing access to services for students. Starting Fall 2021, we are very excited to expand eligibility for services to include more students. See below for information and links on some of the exciting improvements we’ve made.

Student Legal Support

Students are provided with mylegalplan, which is a program designed to ensure that you have resources available to you that provides a legal hotline, a legal library, and access to lawyer services. Students will receive 12 months of legal coverage starting with the first day of the month in which their opt-out deadline occurs. Click here to visit the mylegalplan website.

Student Health & Dental Plan Annual Fee

A new fee structure has been implemented for the SANQC Health & Dental Plan. Students will receive 12 months of coverage starting with the first day of the month in which their opt-out deadline occurs. The cost of the plans is included in your institutional fees and an opt-out is still available if you need it. Click here for more information on the Coverage Period.

Student Health & Dental Plan Eligibility Expansion

SANQC and NorQuest College have worked to make the Health & Dental Plan more inclusive. That means the more students, in more programs, studying through all modes, starting in any term will be included in this program. Click here for more information Eligibility Criteria.

Who is included:

  • Part-time students are now included in the plan
  • Students that start mid-term are now included in the plan
  • Students that are studying online, hybrid and on-campus are now included
  • Students that start in spring term are now included in the plan
  • Students that were previously opted-out have been included in the plan

Student Health & Dental Opt-out Options

Students can opt-out of the plans based on their personal situation, choosing to stay in both the health and dental plans for protection and access to services, choosing to stay in one plan, or choose to opt-out of both plans. If you have another insurance plan you can use the student plan in combination with that insurance plan for more coverage. No proof of other coverage is required to opt-out of the plan. Deadline for opt-out applies.

Opt-out deadlines are unique to each student and based on class start dates.

Opt-out/Add-on will be available starting August 3.

Accessing the Student Health & Dental Plan

Students will receive an email to their NorQuest email account welcoming them to the plan.

  • Coverage details
  • Benefits card
  • Family add-on enrolment
  • Opt-out Waiver (opens Aug. 3)

The email will remind you of your opt-out/add-on period.
